Topic 2 - Data-based solutions for sustainable agriculture
We are interested in joining international research consortia as a project partner and contributing our expertise in agricultural water management, deficit irrigation, climate-resilient horticultural production, plant physiological measurements, and abiotic/biotic stress studies. We are open to collaborating in proposal preparation, field experimentation, laboratory analyses, data evaluation, remote sensing applications, and dissemination activities. Our aim is to support the development of innovative, science-based and sustainable solutions in horticulture and climate adaptation.
Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute (ABKME) is a leading governmental research institution in Türkiye under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The institute has more than 60 years of experience in horticultural science, agricultural water management, plant physiology, sustainable production systems, plant breeding, soil and irrigation research, and climate change–related studies. ABKME conducts national and international R&D activities, develops innovative cultivation techniques, supports growers with evidence-based solutions, and contributes to policy development in the horticulture sector.
The institute has well-equipped laboratories for plant physiology, plant nutrition and soil analysis, pomology, post-harvest quality assessment, and molecular studies. In addition, ABKME has extensive experimental fields, modern irrigation infrastructure (drip, sprinkler, fertigation systems), meteorological monitoring systems, and greenhouses, enabling large-scale multi-year field trials under real production conditions. The institute actively collaborates with universities, research centers, growers, and private-sector partners across Türkiye and internationally.
ABKME has strong research capacity in areas such as climate-resilient horticulture, deficit irrigation, abiotic and biotic stress responses, water-use efficiency, sustainable orchard management, remote sensing applications, agroecology, and biodiversity conservation. The institute regularly participates in national and international calls (TÜBİTAK, PRIMA, Horizon Europe) and contributes to project design, field experimentation, data analysis, training, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities.
With its multidisciplinary team, advanced infrastructure, and long-standing experience in applied agricultural research, ABKME aims to collaborate with international partners to develop innovative, impactful, and practice-oriented solutions for the horticulture and agricultural water management sectors.
