Topic 2 - Data-based solutions for sustainable agriculture
We would like to participate with our expertise as plant physiologist in the area of plant-microbe interactions. We have a wide experience in developing good experimental work in the field, in living labs, with a solid scientific foundation for the experimental set up. We have used biofertilizers based on PGPR in berries (strawberry, blackberry, blueberry) in the Southwest of Spain (Huelva), and in olive (centre of Spain); we have run experiments to show improved yield, improved fruit quality, improved plant nutrition, under regular and water limiting conditions.
Beyond PGPR as biofertilizers, we have developed functionalized nanoparticles based on bacterial elicitors that represent an starting point for next generation biostimulants.
We believe that these experiments will be an excellent source to collect data and establish datasets to be used in agriculture of the future
University San Pablo CEU is a private university based in Madrid Spain. Among the 6 faculties that compose USP-CEU, we belong to the Faculty of Pharmacy, where Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Nutrition and Optic degrees are taught. In addition to teaching, research is a solid pilar at USP-CEU; we have a 30 years research experience in the area of plant agrobiotechnology (https://www.biotecnologia-vegetal-microbioma-ceu.es/) with an active participation in PhD thesis at CEINDO.
