Topic 2 - Data-based solutions for sustainable agriculture
We are interested in collaborating on AGDATA 2025 projects that integrate digital technologies, environmental data, and advanced analytics into sustainable beekeeping. Our focus areas include AI-based colony health monitoring, smart hive systems, and the development of interoperable data platforms for bee-related information. We aim to use sensor data, acoustic signals, and computer vision tools to detect colony stress factors such as Varroa infestation, brood interruption, and climate-driven risks.
We are also interested in remote sensing and Earth Observation–based modelling to map forage availability, predict nectar flows, and assess habitat suitability for local bee ecotypes. Additionally, we seek to contribute to data-driven breeding strategies, ecological adaptation studies, and digital traceability systems for bee products, including honey and propolis.
Overall, we are looking for partners to jointly develop data-intensive, climate-smart, and scalable solutions that enhance the sustainability and resilience of beekeeping within the AGDATA framework.
The Beekeeping Research Center is a leading national institution dedicated to scientific research on honey bees and bee products, with expertise in ecotype conservation, colony sustainability, bee health, product quality and standardization, modern beekeeping practices, and innovative R&D applications. Our center conducts a wide range of studies, including honey bee genetics, ecotype development, bumblebee rearing, value-added utilization of bee products, and digital/data-driven beekeeping technologies. We work in close collaboration with producers, governmental bodies, and international research networks to deliver practical, science-based solutions that strengthen the beekeeping sector and support sustainable agricultural systems.
