Topic 1 - Data technologies and data management
University of Seville, through its AGR-278 SBL research group, is interested in participating in this call as a member of a consortium partnership, contributing our wide expertise in this field and in the development of projects at national and European level, thus continuing the research and transfer activity to the sector that has been developed related to digital technologies applied to agriculture and agrifood sector.
The Smart Biosystems Laboratory research group (AGR-278) - https://smartbiosystemlab.com/ , focuses on innovation in agricultural processes through the use of new technologies. The members of the group are part of the departments of Agroforestry Engineering and Graphic Engineering of the Universities of Seville and their knowledge areas cover different disciplines such as mechanization, irrigation, geomatics or remote sensing.
This research group is leaded by professor Manuel Perez-Ruiz (https://prisma.us.es/investigador/3288).
Our team combines the experience of researchers with a wide scientific production and international recognition, with the innovative approach of young researchers of great projection within these fields. The members of the group also maintain a close relationship with the sector, from public bodies (IOC, MAGRAMA, Regional Ministries of Agriculture), to farmers, technicians and machinery manufacturers, as well as with Interprofessional Organizations.
Digital Agriculture: All the group’s research lines have in common the use of high technology solutions to solve real needs in agricultural production, and their capacity to add value to the agri-food chain by improving product traceability, safety and profitability. This approach is aligned with the current Smartfood and S3 Agrifood strategies at a regional and European level, which support research and technological innovation as the basic pillars of the agriculture and food of the future.
